I complimented her on her confidence and poise in her reading. I mentioned how sharing your work makes it so much more worthwhile. I was proud of her today.
Mary and I created a grid today in which we compared the two novels on the following areas: narrator, style, setting, theme, female protagonist. Mary had positively brilliant ideas. I am impressed by her detailed memory of Jane Eyre (which is a couple of books ago).
Fill in our chart on "male protagonists" and compare same in Jane Eyre and Lady Chatterly.
Give Mary assignment that needs to be finished and turned in on Friday: She will write two short (1-page essays on the following: (1) Explore how Bronte expresses a particular view of society though her protrayal of Jane and Mr. Rochester. (2) Explore D.H. Lawrence's ideas about society, conventiality, and social class as depicted through his characters Constance and Mellors.
