YIKES. Mary lost her electronic version again, despite instructions, etc. on how to save it. The main issue is that she is working on a bunch of different computers. Mary reformatted an older version (she had a hard copy of the latest version so she could work from that). Mary also forgot her bag that had all previous versions (luckily I make her give me a copy of everything she prints out). I tried to tell her kindly that all of us have jobs, and that hers is to be a full time student. I told her that if it were a job where you can get fired, she'd have been let go a long time ago. She didn't take ti too badly. I told her how much we all love her and how it's a big bad world out there and how she will run into teachers who are less kind or who expect higher level organizational skills.
Mary had not done what she needed to do to get her essay in, so we worked on it again today in class. She had lost/lost track of the digital version she was working on yesterday on Jim's computer so she had to reformat, etc.

She sent me her essay on “The Death of Ivan Ilyich” by Leo Tolstoy, still the wrong one

We chose 10 short stories to read for Tuesday. I gave her good list of reading comprehension prompts and asked to write a paragraph or two for each story using the prompts.
