Mary enjoyed today's lesson. She feels like it is "easier" than many of the concepts that she has been learning.
Most of class was spent discussing nutrition, with the use of articles and books. We compared labels on cereal boxes. The last part of class was active with belly dancing (reviewed basic moves.)

Mary is very knowledgeable about nutrition and food choices and actively participated in our discussion. She also enjoyed our belly dancing, as we had not done this in quite a while.
Mary hadn't handed in her work until right before she went to the wedding. She had to email it to me and it was an unreadable file. We spent part of today just retrieving the paper. I would not allow her to turn it in without spell check and without MLA format. She turned it in. She got a lecture from me about organization (she couldn't do her assignment (write the essay that was now 3 weeks overdue) because she couldn't find the prompt. I took her to Devin's office to show her how he organizes things. I showed her how Ashley organizes things (fancier, but it doesn't work for her). I gave a lecture about survival in college and losing assignments and not doing them.. While I started going through her paper she cleaned up her office. She found both items that she had been looking for in various random folders. She set up one manilla folder for each class. We started to go over the paper but then class was over.

Mary's writing has improved an astonishing amount. The grade of C I assigned her was for some sentence structure errors. (she needs to read the paper out loud to find these) and because she didn't answer part of the question. I am actually thrilled (and I told her so) about the improvement in her written expression.
