Lesson 3- What are food chains? - We traced the flow of energy from the sun as it is transferred along the food chain from the producers to the consumers. We learned that a cow, zebra, lamb, giraffe, and rabbit are all herbivores. Then we learned that pigs, bears, hens, and people are omnivores. Next we learned that a fox, wolf, lion, and a shark are carnivores. We learned that a food web shows the relationships among different food chains.
Lesson 4 - How Do Organisms Affect Their Environment?
We learned how plants are helpful. Plants effect the environment by providing food for animals, releasing oxygen during photosynthesis, providing shelter for animals, and the roots help hold soil in place so we can grow plants to eat. We also learned that plants can be harmful to us and the environment. Some oils on plants can cause an itchy rash on our skin and some plants can grow so fast that they become invasive, taking the nutrients and space from other plants and covering houses. We discovered an example of this is the kudzu plant which is not native to North America.
Assignment
We looked up the kudzu plant which is like Ivy covering everything in its path.
