We started a unit on Spain from the textbook. We read a very brief history of Spain, from prehistoric times through the Muslim occupation then the reconquest. We talked about the formation of modern spanish and the influences of the different groups that have occupied the peninsula.
We continued with our discussion of D.Q. de la Mancha, then moved onto other Spanish artists. We looked at the painting by Dali - the persistence of memory - and discussed it and the surrealist movement in Spain.
We read a section of Don Quixote and discussed Cervantes, Don Quixote, and Sancho Panza. We talked about how DQ de la Mancha is considered the first modern novel.
