Brandon worked diligently on the revisions to his annotated bibliography. Afterwards, we worked on the reading, listening, and viewing sections of his College English class. Brandon got through the work with no problems, as usual.
Brandon and I spent our class time tying up the loose ends of his essay. This meant addressing the last of his teacher's concerns, supporting any claims, and adding the conclusion to his essay. We were able to get each of the above finished, and Brandon's final draft was strong. In addition, we were able to complete and submit his annotated bibliography. Very productive week for Brandon!
Brandon and I continued researching and revising his College English expository essay. The research is coming along, but Brandon was finding it a bit difficult to organize his findings. To help, we outlined most of his body paragraph to figure out where exactly Brandon needed to place the new research. This worked well, and Brandon's essay continues to get stronger everyday.
Brandon spent the majority of his time reading through the writing lab teacher's comments on his essay and looking for ways that he could address this feedback. In general, the teacher noted that Brandon needed to better support some of his main points, and we spend the rest of class looking for research sources.
Brandon and I read through several articles that he needed to analyze to respond to his College English discussion post. Brandon came in ready to work today, and he was able to finish both the initial post and the secondary posts in one sitting. Good effort!
Brandon began working on the next chapter today. We listened to the lectures, and then he read the chapter and took notes. We put together the vocabulary list for the week and he should be in good shape to do his discussion posts tomorrow.
Brandon took the mid-term today and scored a 98%. The only question he missed was the one he forgot to answer. The preparation yesterday paid off as he knew a lot of the answers without having to look them up. Great work!!!!
We spent today organizing materials from the first six chapters and making notes in preparation for the exam tomorrow. Brandon seems to be taking this seriously and is in great shape for the test.
Brandon and I spent a substantial amount of time researching for his Expository Essay about the history of discrimination against women in the workplace. As the topic suggests, we hd to do a lot of research to support its claims, and this was made difficult because many of the clear cut histories were only available as library books, not online sources. I am trying to convince Brandon to get an Inter-Library Loan account that will allow him to receive books from NEU or another local university at home in Florida. I will try talking to him about it again tomorrow.
