Today was our last session. We discussed test taking strategies. I instructed Ashley how to work her calculator and keeping in "degree" mode. We looked at the reference sheet and I showed Ashley which she should memorize and which she should use for reference. We went through a practice test and Ashley did great. There were concepts on vectors that we never discussed before, so we did. I asked Ashley to let us know how she does!
Today we focused on Logarithmic and Trigonometric problems. It's nice to see Ashley is using techniques I've taught her in previous classes. We also covered geometry, statistics, and algebra as well. We have 1 more session before she takes her exam.
Ashley and I have worked on Geometry the past few sessions, but today we decided to switch gears to assess her skill set on other topics. We pulled a Practice Test from the ACT site. I was proud to see that on the Geometry problems that did show up, Ashley remembered things I taught her. The mixed review showed that Ashley can use some practice with Logarithms and Trigonometry. Next session, we will focus on those problem types more. She did very well on Algebra questions.
Ashley and I reviewed a plethora of topics today in Geometry. Ashley led the problems she felt confident. When she got stuck, I interjected with some instruction. Today we talked about volume, perimeter, surface area, equations of circles, complementary and supplementary angles, pythagorean theorem, equations of lines, zero/undefined slopes, and more. Ashley did very well today.
We started by reviewing the Math topics that are covered on the ACT test. Ashley said that she felt the weakest in Geometry. We found a practice Geometry test and worked through the problems together. We discussed Pythagorean theorem, vertical angle theorem, area and perimeter, similarity and congruence, and more.
