We discussed the first known appearance of the Golden Ratio in the Book of Exodus and the proportions of the Ark of the Covenant.We looked its use in early art and architecture (Pyramids of Giza, the Parthenon) as well as its appearance in nature (Spiral galaxy, snail shells.) We used the calculator to explore its relationship with consecutive members of the Fibonacci sequence.

Lesson Outline
1)Discuss the results of Jessica's rhetorical analysis essay.
2)Choose a book from the summer AP Literature Reading List to begin reading for the last few weeks of class.
3) Jessica begins her full AP Exam assignment in class for the last 40 minutes.
We started with a position function of a falling body, took its derivative to give us a velocity function (rate of change of position) and used both functions to find out when the object hit the ground and its speed at impact. We found its acceleration by taking the derivative of velocity and reversed the whole process with integration.
Jess's DBQ from yesterday was off topic and poorly structured. She knew it was not her best example and said she was out of it when she wrote the essay. I reviewed the facts with her and gave her another to do.
