Good discussion regarding answers to the review questions and the hw questions. Jessie was familiar with some terms, like NSAIDs because they are used in treating horses. Hopefully the discussion better clarified their actions on the physiology of the animals.
Finished the chapter and will begin a new discussion on Mon
We reviewed the whole notion of partitioning plane areas into smaller, simpler areas and summing them to find the total area of the plane area. We reviewed the area under a curve as a limit of a Riemann sum and then jumped to areas under a curve as definite integrals and worked several problems with that concept.

Jess's attitude is fine. She is in the apartment (with Amanda) in Ocala. Calculus-wise, today's material was a lot less abstract and I think her comfort level returned to its previous highs. ;-)
We reviewed upper and lower sums, the Riemann Sum and eased out way into the definite integral as the limit of a Riemann sum as the number of partitions approaches infinity.

Lesson Comments
This material is admittedly quite abstract. At one point, I asked Jess if she was bleeding from the eyes and she said, "Not yet." A few minutes later, she told me that she had indeed started bleeding from the eyes. I promised her that the material would become more concrete and less abstract and she promised to hang in there. I'm confident that she will and we'll get through this together.
