Hamlet
Lesson Outline
Act 3, scene 3,4

We finished reading Act 3, including Hamlet's confrontation with his mother and the murder of Polonius. Will did a good job with the reading, and clearly understands the play so far. When the ghost reappeared, he answered questions the referred to Act 1, and Hamlet's father. Great job!

Act 3 scene 2

We continued reading today about the reaction after the play within the play. We had a great discussion about the "now he is a praying speech", and about Hamlet's need for the "perfect" revenge. I'm very pleased with Will's effort.

Congruent Polygons - Corresponding Parts
Lesson Outline
We discussed congruent polygons and related our discussions and drawings to last week's work with polygons. We then embarked on a discussion of congruent triangles and the necessity of proving a pair of triangles congruent (or not.) Once we have used the given information to prove the pair congruent, we can use that fact to deduce congruence of remaining corresponding sides and angles. We worked several example exercises from the text.

We continued watching the movie today. Will did a great job paying attention and staying focused. We spent a lot of today discussing how the film is different/similar from the play. (The movie is set in the 19th century)

Begin Chapter 4
Lesson Outline
We began today's session with questions asked by Will, and my answers to same, before administering the Chapter 3 quiz. After Will said he felt confident in proceeding, the Chapter 3 quiz was administered. In the remaining time, we began consideration of Chapter 4, addressing the so-called tradition of neglect shown by England toward the colonies, the hostilities between England and France globally and the way these played out in North America, the Albany Plan advocated by Benjamin Franklin, the alliances between native Americans and the French, and the Iriquois Confederation (the native Americans who "played" France against England).
