We practiced plotting quadratic functions in standard form with f(x) = ax2 where a>1 or 0<a<1. We learned to identify key features of the graphs of quadratic functions written in vertex form. We learned to graph functions in standard form and show intercepts, maxima, and minima. Then we learned to determine how the values of a, b, and c affect the graph of f(x) = ax2 + bx + c. Next, we compared the properties of quadratic functions presented in different forms (algebraically, in a table, and graphically).

I gave Cam an uncooked uncracked egg that he had to name. He named his egg Eggie Van Halen. His design challenge was to create an egg crate that will protect his egg from cracking once it is nestled securely inside its crate and dropped from various heights on the playground. He made a very secure crate out of yarn, shredded packing tissue, aluminum foil, and foil insulation for food. He dropped Eggie from an approximate height of 20 feet by throwing it into the air. Before we unveil Eggie to see if he is intact, Cam wants to do more drops as a group with Jackson and Remi
We first addressed the novel's next big plot surprise: Magwitch, the convict, is actually Estella's father. We noted the irony . Estella projects herself as the epitome of upper class society .Yet, she would be spurned violently if people knew her true lineage . We further discussed the symbolism of PIp's physical wound and healing as he develops values . In this regard, we studied the text and focused on Pip;s selflessness and compassion as he readily forgives Miss Havisham and asks nothing for himself. Likewise, we studied the textual passage wherein Miss Havisham pleads for forgiveness and exhibits deep remorse as she has led a life consumed with hatred and revenge. We discussed how the motif of remorse and guilt has appeared throughout the novel.
We continued reviewing Drew's essay on a "special place', for him the Smokey Mountains . I provided instruction on maintaining a single subject in each paragraph by discussing where and how to transpose sentences to maintain this consistency. We then worked on drafting a conclusion that does more than reiterate the first paragraph or the prior points. Next, we moved on to Drew's literary essay. I addressed the standard elements of a first paragraph ,including introducing the characters and the setting. Drew's essay did a good job with character introductions but lacked setting context that would be relevant to the topic of bravery. We worked on adding an historical setting context to the first paragraph which we completed.
