Emma was provided feedback on her AP Rhetorical terms test. We discussed how each individual term needed to have its own particular purpose and function within the major thesis of the essay. Emma did a good job of identifying each term, but her follow-through needs some work in term of providing an explanation. She has gotten better with this, but her work still needs some fine-tuning.
Emma and I reviewed her AP Synthesis essay, focusing on particular areas that Emma needed to expand in support of her thesis. We talked about using the provided sources as supporting points and then expanding on those points with poignant examples. Emma is good at interpreting her sources and using them in her essay, but she often does this in a haphazard way, which does not fully explain the complexity of her ideas. We will continue working on this for next week.
Emma was administered an AP Synthesis Essay practice exam to prepare her for her AP exam next week. The essay asked Emma to support her stance on whether or not we should discontinue the use of the US Postal Service with several provided sources.
