Lesson Outline
Arianna and I continued her prior lesson on finding the factors of products. Then, we expanded that knowledge to knowing how many factors a number has in order to tell if a number is prime or composite. We printed out a prime numbers reference chart and Arianna completed the lesson's practice problems, writing whether numbers were prime or composite and their factors.

Lesson Outline
The next unit will be on different careers in biology. We will first learn about being an animal behaviorist, with Arianna completing a research project on two different animals to define, observe, and compare their behaviors while we learn about the job of behaviorist. She has selected the red fox and coral snake as her two species.

Lesson Outline
Arianna practiced using suffixes in words and identifying their meanings. We practiced identifying the author’s opinion and point of view in sample passages. She gave me a brief summary of chapter 5 and then we read chapter 6 of Harry Potter. At the end of the chapter, Arianna made her own predictions about how the characters would act their way out of their current dilemma. We will check those predictions tomorrow.

Arianna and I took turns reading aloud. She discovered several words that she didn't know. We defined those words using context clues and the dictionary when needed. Arianna does quite well reading the series.

Arianna was given the second layout for her canvas painting which consisted of a heart and the word Ari D. We flip the layout over, applied graphite, applied the layout to the canvas, and traced it to create a copy onto the canvas. Arianna focused on painting the lettering as I worked on the heart.

This afternoon, Arianna celebrated Ms. Judie's birthday and Valentine's Day with cake and a small party. Then, we spent time looking for "perfect" sticks outside in order to make more Harry Potter wands. Arianna was able to paint 6 more wands and sprayed the already completed wands with a shiny clear coat.
