The letter S and T and Math
Lesson Outline
Analise and I made our letter sheets for the letters T and S today! We made a slithering snake for S and Tony the toad for T. Afterward, we walked around the school and searched for words that start with the letters T or S. We found a lot! Then, we used the abcya.com website to do a little reading. We read about Lily the Wild Cat and then read Henry and the Sugarbugs. While we read the story about Henry, we stopped on each page and identified all the T's and S's in the sentences! Finally, we finished the morning with a little math. On the abcya.com website, we played Marble Math up to level 4. We used our fingers to help visualize the addition at first, but after level 2, the numbers were too large to use our fingers (9+4, 16+1, etc), so we used buttons to add the groups. Analise did a great job!

Lesson Outline
Today we worked on letter Nn. Analise created an adorable nest for our alphabet book. She completed a few pages from her Explode the Code book. She had to pick out and circle an object that began with letter Nn. We also worked on matching upper and lowercase letters up to Nn. She loves doing this because she gets to write on the white board and draw pictures that go along with that letter.
We also played math games adding up to 20. She is doing a great job! We also played our Shopping Game using pennies and nickles.
We did a group science experiment today. We made Flubber! She got to measure, mix, and observe the change from a liquid to a solid!

Analise worked very hard today, I am so proud of her!! Today we worked on letters Ll and Mm. She created pages for our alphabet book and we did a bunch of activities focusing on Ll and Mm. We walked all around the school and found objects beginning with those letters, we made a Lion and a picture of her Mom! We also wrote a story using all of the L and M objects we found around the school. It was a fun activity!
We also did a lesson on things that go together. She had to match objects from two different piles. She did a great job!
And for math we started a lesson on money. We are learning the names and values of different coins. I set up a little store and she got to go shopping and used her coins to buy things. She had a lot of fun with this. We will continue to work on money for the next week.
Today was our Pie Day Celebration in honor of 3.14.15

Upper and lowercase letter recognition, non-fiction reading
Lesson Outline
Analise began her session playing a cooperative game called Letter Dogs. In this game, children take turns picking cards and matching uppercase letters on cards to lowercase letters on dog collars. Letter Dogs supports the print concepts standard of recognizing all upper- and lowercase letters. Analise did a wonderful job playing this game, identifying both upper and lowercase letter, and practicing letter sounds. She loved talking about her dogs and looking for their breeds on the game board. Next, we read a non-fiction book about penguins. Analise did a picture walk before reading and read the text as she thought it should be. Next, I read the book to her and we discussed the information on penguins at length.
