Today we tried to go over a practice exam that I had emailed and printed. We attempted to go over the reading passages. Unfortunately there were wifi problems, so we were unable to complete the lesson as planned. Instead we texted some strategy reminders for the exam, and Hamilton is going to work on these questions between now and Saturday. I have emailed him the answers and instructed him to email me if he has any questions or last minute concerns.

We went through a practice exam, and I had him work through certain problems. He did well, he just has to read the question slowly, and be careful not to jump to conclusions.

We had to work on the practice test that was given to him for homework, since it was not complete.

Today we worked on the science portion of the ACT. We worked on each question individually, and discussed strategies for reading and answering questions.

We completed our worksheets focusing on the topics of geometry. Hamilton needs a little bit more practice and review on topics such as area, volume, perimeter, etc.

Today we began With a reading passage and questions. Hamilton seems to need a bit more practice with the reading question and what exactly the question is asking, so we will practice this further in the future. Next we worked on the 2 science passages. The first science passage was tougher for Hamilton, while he got all the answers correct on the second passage. I will be emailing Hamilton the remaining science passages to complete for homework.

We went through a practice Geometry drill, testing his knowledge and recognition of certain concepts. Hamilton has definitely improved! My fear is that he will jump to solutions before reading the whole problem, and checking his work. We are working on that. We will also begin to speed up the pace in answering problems.

We went over several problems from a practice exam given to him last time we met. He seems to be improving. He recognizes special cases with triangles, and seems to understand the trig on the test a little bit more. There are still slight errors he is making when manipulating expressions with trig, however, improvement is there. I introduced some trig identities to him, and we did one problem with those. We also covered basic area formulas, and the volume and surface area of a cube. He has notes containing all the information needed that he can refer to.

Today we worked on practice English questions for the ACT. We reviewed some common mistakes and what to look for when the ACT is looking for corrections. We did (2) reading passages in depth, one question at a time.

We went through the practice problems that I gave to him for homework, along with introducing the concept of Law of Sines.
