Gracyn took the Quiz today. She worked on several worksheets about Thanksgiving, words, spelling, coloring pages, including Squanto and Pilgrims. We read "You Wouldn't Want to Sail on the Mayflower! A Trip That Took Entirely Too Long" by Peter Cook. We listened to Studies Weekly about the first Thanksgiving. We began putting together our squirrel and nuts game.
Gracyn played an online memory game that became increasingly challenging by adding more items to each level. We finished the class with a short game of "Gracyn" Monopoly.
design fundamentals. Gracyn is working on a drawing of a mermaid of her choosing and has created a "tissue" paper background for it. She will then begin her color theory lessons beginning with her "primary" colors.
Gracyn brought her laptop with her today so we used it for her Raz-Kids and Reading Eggs lessons. She is near the end of lesson 60 in Reading Eggs and is determined to complete the level. Her Raz-Kids story was "Election Day" and she read with fluency and comprehension. Our word study lesson was l-blends and we manipulated words one sound at a time. She wrote sentences using the l-blends that she created.
Our strategy focus continues to be building her reading stamina with a goal of reading independently for at least 20 minutes. Today she read "Eat Like a Pig" on Raz-Kids for her independent read. She earned her certificate for completing level 6 on Reading Eggs. We played a game called Quick Erase for practicing r-blends. Our shared story was "Polka Dots for Poppy" and we read "The Giving Tree" as our read aloud. Gracyn made many connections to the story.
We checked out books today and found many books with a birthday theme. She is very excited about her special day and I hope she enjoys it from start to finish. She read " Happy Birthday, Dear Dragon" for her shared/instructional reading. We read "Fancy Nancy" for our read aloud. Our word work practice included a sight word card game, she won. We are adding three words to our word wall; what, oh, and one.

Science Enrichment:
The Snapper -
Gracyn and I watched some views of birds dancing, then we continued with the project we started a week ago. This time the subject was a red snapper fish. We discussed how her family had caught and eaten many snapper. We watched a video from the reef organization, showing scientists counting the fish species found in the Bahamas. She used several warm colors to make her snapper look ‘handsome’.
Gracyn's lesson involved problem solving and using subtraction strategies. She was given multiple word problems to solve. Gracyn determined the given information and what information needed to be found, or the answer. Also, the vocabulary clue words and the best strategies were determined. These word problems were challenging and Gracyn did a great job. To end, we spent the last few minutes of class solving subtracting by 10's problems using numbers up to 120.
We worked on vowels and worked on our book of the letter C. Also, we continued practicing the "araña pequeñita" song and we were able to read a short book on RazKids called "Arriba, Abajo".
Today Gracyn learned to play "F" and "G" in C position for right hand. We played through two new songs entitled "On the Swing" and "Mary's Lamb" in the Bastien Piano Method Primer and reviewed older pieces, always counting two-beats for the half notes. Gracyn also learned about quarter notes today.
