Today Ariana did a great job participating in each part of ballet and jazz class. She changed into her dance clothes and we pulled her hair back. She is working on strengthening her core and practicing steps. She loves classes and we are continuing to work on combination steps to Grease Lightening.
Arianna started with a full body warm-up and worked on pointing and flexing her feet. She the did a freeze dance warming up for jazz, skipping, chasing, galloping and posing.She practiced releve walks, ballet walks and passe walks on the balance beam. The step she worked on today was ballchange and we added it to a chasse with Grease lightening arms. She practiced to the entire song of Grease lightening and then asked to watch the musical video of Grease live. She watched it twice and pointed out the similar parts to her dance and the parts she liked.
Assignment
Please pack ballet slippers, dance book and leotard if she has one for the next class.
After playground we started conditioning with a ball to get our core strong and did a whole body warm-up. Arianna then did her ballet first position turnout and her plie dance. Arianna then practiced her piques (pointed for out with a straight leg) and foot warm-ups. Arianna practiced her relieve walks across beam and worked on her across the floor skills, chaser side, forward, skips and jete's (leaps).
Next we started our jazz warm-up, isolation using our salt and pepper bands for helping with right and left hands and feet.
Arriana began to get a little tired so we watched a dance video of the song we danced to on Monday. She asked for more and enjoyed watching the performer's song and dance.

Arianna had a bloody nose today and was very tired.
We began today on the playground balancing on the balance beam keeping our core strong. Back in the school we began with whole body warm-up and reviewed yesterday's lesson beginning with parallel and then turnout. Arianna remembered how to bend and open up her hips. We then went into jazz and reviewed our isolation and across the floor skills.

Arianna was a little tired today and not as attentive.
We began today discussing Arianna's past dance eexperience. She told me she enjoyed listening to Kidz Bop so we created a playlist for her. We then began with some dance conditioning techniques to strengthen her core and help her body be ready to dance. We then decided to begin with ballet skills standing tall in parallel and opening our hips to turnout.
After ballet we began our jazz warm-ups (isolations) waking up and moving one part of our body at a time. Arianna was a little shy at first but definitely started loosening up in jazz.
We then did some skills like galloping , sliding and skipping across the floor which she did very well with and also seemed to enjoy.
Great first class
We began with a full body warm-up and then proceeded to Ballet skills. Today we focused on plie'(bending of the knee and releve (rising on the balls of our feet). In Jazz we continued working on the two skills in parallel position and also created a dance combination to "Grease Lightening". She seems to really be enjoying class.
