Matt finally brought in his practice exam completed, which means that we can finally determine where he is compared to his practice exam initially. He went up 80 points from his first practice to this practice exam in math (500 to 580). Usually, students take the SAT at least twice to continue to work hard to increase their score. He should aim for at least a 630.

We went through some of the problems on the last practice exam that I gave him to do at home. Matt hasn't completed any of the practice exams that I sent home in full, so it is difficult to measure how the score is changing. I can tell his math skills are improving, but I would like to gear his improvement with a timed exam, he needs to finish one to determine the change in score.

We went over practice problems from the test.

Matthew and I reviewed the writing and language strategies and he completed a number of drills. Next, we went over the reading strategies again and Matthew did targeted practice with specifically literature passages.

Matthew did a number of reading passage drills and writing and language drills. We discussed the testing strategies in detail and reviewed questions that were unclear.

Today, we concentrated on the reading passages that Matt has been having the most trouble with. Matt worked on the strategies for this particular passages, and then we reviewed the English section strategies, Matt then practiced the corresponding drills.

We went through some new SAT topics that he had weakness in, and practiced these concepts through SAT practice problems.

Matt and I reviewed the active reading strategies for the SAT Reading section and he did some practice drills. Next, he completed drills in the Writing and Language section.

Introduction to the test and some tricks for answering the questions.

We went through multiple concepts and practice problems on the SAT. We went over the problems he got wrong on his practice test (he did not complete the whole thing). He was sent home with more practice to bring back next time.
