7.2 Trigonometric Ratios
Lesson Outline
JPaul is whizzing through this new material on Trig!! Today we discussed the 6 trig functions and how we can relate them to triangles on the coordinate plane. We introduced new vocab, such as initial side, terminal side, and reference angle. For each new topic we discussed, JPaul practiced a problem. He easily understood the new content. We had some time left in class, so JPaul started on his homework independently.

7.1 Trig Functions
Lesson Outline
Today we reviewed the Chapter 6 Test that JPaul took last week. He got an 80% + a 2% Bonus. We went through each question and analyzed his errors. We recognized what JPaul’s errors were when he had to write a function on his own. He did great with the computation problems though.

Then we started the next Chapter with 7.1 Trigonometric Functions. JPaul and his substitute last week did a lesson together, so JPaul was familiar with the 6 trig functions. We looked in the textbook to pull some problems for Practice. JPaul worked through the problems and explained the steps as he worked. I think he is going to enjoy this Chapter.

Chapter 6 Test
Lesson Outline
Jpaul used today to finish his test on Chapter 6 Exponential and Logarithmic Functions. There were several points where JPaul was unsure of what he was doing. He looked to me for help. Prior to next test, we are going to have to re-establish what it means to take a test. The questions he was asking me were things he should have felt comfortable with prior to taking the test. I still helped him, but next time we will have those boundaries in place. Hopefully that will encourage him to be better prepared. I will grade his test over the weekend and we will review it on Tuesday.

Chapter 6 Test
Lesson Outline
JPaul was about 20 minutes late today. He said he got stuck behind a bus and he needs to start leaving his house earlier.

Today he had a test on Chapter 6 Exponential and Logarithmic Functions. Prior to the test, he had a few questions regarding solving exponential equations. We reviewed them together. I asked if he wanted another day to study and he said no, he was ready. So he started the test today. He did not finish, so he will be given the 2nd portion tomorrow.

Lesson Outline
Today JPaul and I reviewed for his Chapter 6 test section by section. We pulled problems, JPaul worked on them independently, and I interjected when he was stuck or on the verge of making an error.

JPaul was out of sorts this morning. I noticed he seemed sleepier than usual. He told me that he forgot to take his medicene and was "out of it".

6.6 Logarthmic Equations
Lesson Outline
Today we finished Chapter 6 on Exponential and Logarithmic Functions. We reviewed his homework. He did it perfectly. Then we discussed how to solve equations with logarithms on both sides. We ran into the situation where some of our solutions ended up being extraneous. Today was a good review of how to factor and solve quadratic equations and then check the solutions when we are finished. Tomorrow we will Review and Wednesday JPaul will have a Test.

6.6 Exponential and Logarithmic Functions
Lesson Outline
We reviewed yesterday’s homework together. JPaul only had an error on one problem that he was able to correct. Today we (almost) finished the Chapter. We discussed 6.6 Exponential and Logarithmic Equations. We only reviewed Exponential Equations, we will save Logarithmic for Monday. This concept had JPaul practicing rewriting equations to have the same base. He also applied logarithms to solve equations where he couldn’t rewrite the bases to be the same. This is monotonous work, but JPaul did a great job. We had a few minutes left in class to get his homework started.
