we had fun today. Loulie is really a good little artist.
Loulie did a science demonstration with glue, salt, and colors today. We wrote her name on a piece of cardboard with glue, then she sprinkled salt over the glue. She used food coloring to paint the salt and watch the colors absorb into the glue and salt mixture. We talked about mixing colors and how to make new colors by mixing red and blue to make purple and red and yellow to make orange. We also did an experiment with milk, food coloring, and dish soap to watch the colors combine and make new colors.
Loulie and I sang the 'Alligators All Around' song and continued to work on our motions to go along with it. We played letter games to identify the letter names. She spelled and wrote her name and we made a hole-punch version of it. We read a counting book and Louie showed me how she can count to 20 by ones and to 90 by tens, althought she skipped to 100 frequently. :) We also read a counting poem.
Today Loulie created wands with a star and a triangle. She learned how to sit up tall like a princess with a crown on and practiced diamond toes and scary toes. She warmed up her legs bending with plies and lifting her heels in releve. Loulie practiced her galloping and ended with a princess dance.

Loulie had a great first day of class. She is welcome to wear dance clothes, ballet slippers and her hair pulled back.
Loulie and I practiced the alphabet by placing letter magnets in alphabetical order. We sang the alphabet song to identify the letters and their correct placement. Then we played a game by hiding one or two letters and naming the missing letters. We also listened to the song "Alligators All Around" and created motions to go with the letter sounds. We sang a-f and practiced the motions together. Loulie is absolutely adorable and very engaged in learning. I'm looking forward to our sessions!
