Boy in the Striped Pajamas Graphic Organizer on Plot
Lesson Outline
Today we completed a graphic organizer on the plot of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. There were many parts to the questions which primarily addressed the evolution of the protagonist. Interestingly, the FLVS material drew from James Marcia's work on identity status (which grew out of Erik Erikson's identity and psychosocial development theories). Marcia identifies Diffusion, Foreclosure, Moratorium, and Achievement are NOT stages, NOT sequential, but statuses. This can be very helpful to adolescents if they are prompted to identify with it, and FLVS makes small steps to guide students in that direction.
