We continued to study Hopkins' PIed Beauty" in order to focus on the use of structure and punctuation to create or to complement meaning. We reviewed the use of hyphens to slow pacing and to create a juxtaposition between the particular and the abstract in the first two stanzas, and observed the use of antithesis as a mirror of the speaker's observations that apparent contrasts are in truth a part of God's plan . I also provided instruction on paradox and juxtaposition based on two additional poems. We then reviewed Joshua's homework MCQs on AP classroom as he had difficulty with the Edna Millay poem. I discussed each metaphor, the leaf and the tree ,and explained how these metaphors illustrate the poet's perspective on human mortality. We will continue reviewing the poem tomorrow.
Spoke in depth about some current events taking place in the US and abroad and shared some details about his most recent major accomplishment. Jackson had to then leave early before our second session could commence.
