I provided introductory instruction to the novel "The Scarlet Letter" by generally discussing literary Romanticism and its characteristics and the relationship between Hawthorne's Romanticism and the Transcendental Movement. Further, I elaborated on the novel's introduction known as the "The Custom House" and discussed the introduction's relationship to Hawthorne , the author, and Hawthorne ,the narrator. Specifically, I addressed how the novel's narrative framework is established by the introduction which is assigned for homework.
