Holocaust Fighters and Parts of Speech - We reviewed what we'd read so far. Then, Cameron took a 25-question quiz over the first three chapters of the book. We went over the answers together. Next, we discussed the parts of speech. After that, I had Cameron complete a Mad Minute for nouns, verbs, adjectives, and exclamations. Lastly, we had Drop Everything and Read for the last 10 minutes of class.
Holocaust Fighters - We reviewed what we'd read so far in chapters 1 - 3. We discussed the harsh conditions and results of concentration camps. Then, we read chapter 3. Cameron expressed that he knows plenty about the Holocaust and that he'd like to skip to a chapter that focused on the boxers. We skipped forward to chapter 4. We started reading about Young Perez who was a Jewish/Arab boxer.
Drop Everything and Read and Discussion about the holidays - We discussed the various holidays celebrated around the world. Cameron shared a precious book that he's had in his family for years. It had stories about latkes, applesauce, and Hanukkah. For the rest of the time, Cameron and I dropped everything and read for 20 minutes.
