Examine the 4 different age structure diagrams. Elicit the information which can be determined by these structures. Examine each one detail and discuss, based on the age group population, if a nation will show rapid growth, slow growth, zero growth, or negative growth.
Discuss age structure by examining age structure diagrams. Define them as representing the number of individuals within specific age groups, in groups of 5 year differences. Discuss each category. These are nations showing more young than old, nations showing little difference in age grouping, and nations with more elderly than young. Delve into the effect of each on the population.
Discuss aging and disease. Examine how aging and disease affect the global population growth rate, the national population growth rate. Discuss reasons why the US crude death rate is higher than that of Mexico. Examine the major diseases' which play an important role in regulation of population. Introduce the net migration rate and the effect immigration and emigration have on the population. Introduce age structure diagrams and differentiate between 4 major types.
Discuss the effect of aging and disease on the population growth rate, the crude population birth rate and crude death rate. Introduce the effects that diseases such as HIV, Covid, Flu, Pneumonia, and TB has had on growth. Discuss why the US has a higher crude death rate than Mexico. Discuss the effect migration has on the population growth. Introduce the net immigration rate formula
Discuss crude birth rate, global population growth rate formula, doubling time, total fertility rate , replacement level fertility, life expectancy, infant and child mortality. For each of the above, indicate how they affect the population growth and use examples for each formula,
Outline is listed on last Thursday's summary. JP was absent for that lesson.

JP was absent again for this lesson. I need to move on, he will need to complete the module on his own, and I will be more than happy to discuss any facts he could not understand
Discuss factors which cause the total fertility rate to be higher in developing countries. Examine life expectancy numbers and discuss factors affecting it. Introduce infant and child mortality and how it affects the crude population growth. Elicit factors which influence lowering of infant mortality rates.
Introduce the formula for computing the crude birth rate both global and national. Use example numbers of births and deaths to determine the global population growth rate. Discuss the doubling time formula and work a few problems. Analyze why the total fertility rate is a much better indicator then the crude birth rate. Introduce the replacement level fertility and discuss why it is higher than expected.
Refer to Tuesday's outline. and add how to determine the crude birth rate, the global population growth rate, the fertility rate, the doubling time and the replacement level fertility
