Today's lesson focused on biodiversity, highlighting the species that make up the coral reef ecosystem. Jackson learned about biodiversity through a combination of my presentation, discussion, and an interactive model. I checked his understanding of the lesson by having him answer questions related to biodiversity. I also asked him to come up with a question on his own to further his understanding. He asked how coral reefs are formed. So, we discussed that to strengthen his understanding of coral reefs. Great class!
During our session on coral reefs, Jackson sparked our exploration by illustrating his vision of a coral reef, accompanied by a series of insightful questions he had about these unique ecosystems. Our exploration took us online, where we delved into a variety of coral examples, closely examining their intricate details. We enriched our understanding by immersing ourselves in a video presentation that vividly showcased coral reefs and their susceptibility to environmental influences. This engaging session provided us with a visual and informative introduction to the captivating world of coral reefs and their delicate balance within our environment.
Today we went outside to help Mark and Sheehan organize the outdoor equipment for the break. PJ is truly such a kindhearted kid! I really enjoy having him in class every day! Thank you all for the Starbucks card and the delicious bakery treats you brought in!
PJ participated in a school-wide holiday celebration today, but he complained of a headache after the last game of Musical Chairs and asked if he could rest for the remainder of class.
