Work through s series of definitions which will lead us to an understanding of the reflex arc. The definitions of a reflex, a receptor, a sensory nerve, a motor nerve, and a target organ were given. A simple reflex arc was imaged, the pathway discussed, and the speed and reason for this type of reflex. The physiology of neurotransmitters presented, their type of action, where produced, and their activity listed.
Alexa and I began by answering the study guide/ discussion questions for the chapters of the book she has read. We also discussed in detail the setting of the novel. I showed her some pictures of Manderley from the 1940's Hitchcock movie to get a better picture in her mind. We also discussed the role of women in the 1930's and compared them to Jane Austen's women in PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. Alexa will continue reading the novel for homework. She says that she is enjoying the novel.
View and discuss the video "pathway of nerve transmission" which showed through a series of biological experiments and demonstrations, the complete nerve impulse, from receptor stimulation, through depolarization and re-polarization, to response. The complete terminology and anatomy was shown and discussed.

This was a very extensive biological look at the neurons, nerves, and transmission. All the important terminology was given and discussed. I am going to present Alexa with an assignment that will evaluate her comprehension and ability interpret and use the information.
Alexa and I had the challenge of her microphone not working today. We used the chat feature and I read her lips. Her brother came halfway into our session, and helped by connection of a microphone of his to Alexa's computer so that I could hear her.
We worked a few exercises on solving right triangles. She seems to be understanding opposite and adjacent sides better. We also talked about future scheduling.
