Vlad is very excited about the impending Chernobyl movie coming out soon on HBO. There are disturbing and frightening parallels between the accident at Chernobyl and the events Vlad is reading about in the book, "Hiroshima."

Lesson Comments
We only had 30 minutes to meet as Vlad's class prior to thisone ran overtime. Then Vlad went to meet with Miss Judie, at Miss Judie's request. Nevertheless, we made the most of the time we had looking into this ominous event.
Vlad spent today's class working on the Stanford Achievement Test. I gave him the option to begin with the English portions or the Social Science portion of the test. He chose to begin with the Social Studies portion of the test. It was also explained to Vlad that he has unlimited time to complete the test. Vlad completed 9 questions - about 1/2 way through the Social Science section.
We worked for two hours today on final edits for Vlad's presentation for Mr. Tisi's group tomorrow. Once we smoothed out the text, we searched for visuals to enhance Vlad's accompanying PowerPoint presentation. Vlad then practiced reading aloud his revised speech. He just needs to add a mention of his concern about the environment to his "Vlad Talk" to accompany his slides about pollution and the Pacific Trash Heap. Vlad feels comfortable and confident about this public speaking engagement. He will be fantastic, "wow" and impress this audience tomorrow!
