In this session Elle began her review of systems of linear function using the elimination method.

In grammar, Elle worked to master punctuation. Specifically, she worked with the apostrophe to show possession. She is not clear about plural possessives. Elle also worked with quotation marks. She has mastered quotation marks. In reading, Elle read excerpts from "Red Queen". She has greatly improved in her ability to self-monitor her comprehension. She is slowing down and varying her strategies. We discussed the themes of "Red Queen"... war, coming of age, love, and betrayal. Elle continued to write the first draft of an essay comparing and contrasting Mavin to Cal.

Elle learned about Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats when analyzing a business and industry.

I asked Elle to answer questions today on the moon's phases, tides and eclipses.

Elle had class on Skype with me today. I posed several questions that I reinforced by typing them on the Skype chat. We discussed the responses, and I illustrated critical thinking moves in possible answers. Elle typed the responses. Doing this type of Q&A with discussion culminated in talking about possible career choices Elle could explore. Her high energy became evident when the focus turned to makeup, she even showed me her very organized collection. Then we began to research various careers available to makeup artists. She chose one that is most appealing at the moment, and we began some research on it.

Elle worked on stage makeup. She tried a bruised eye. She also worked on eyebrows. We watched a few makeup tutorial videos.

I worked with Elle on Eclipses and Tides. She had to highlight key points from the reading with me and then answer questions related to the topic. We Skyped the lesson together.
