Lesson Outline
The lesson consisted of solving more advanced problems with centripetal acceleration and force dynamics. Newton's law of gravitation was explained and used in conjunction with rotational dynamics to solve for the acceleration due to gravity of different planets and celestial bodies.

Lesson Comments
Vlad did not do any of the homework right even though I had basically given him the answers and solutions the previous week. I would like to spend more time on the previous material but if we are to keep up the pace with the AP physics syllabus, we need to move on.

Lesson Outline
The lesson consisted of force statics and dynamics. The previous homework was not completed as Vlad got stuck and didn't understand how to proceed any further so a thorough explanation was given to help him complete the homework problems by tomorrow.

The lesson consisted of doing some practice problems and solving for the net force with Newton's second law in higher dimensions. We reviewed the four fundamental forces of nature to prepare for the next chapter of material on Newton's law of gravitation. We spent some time discussing other subfields of physics like quantum mechanics and relativity and its applications.

Lesson Outline
The lesson consisted of working with Newton’s laws in 2 and 3 dimensions. Examples finding the net force of an object with forces applied at angles and when friction is involved were given. The similarities and differences were compared to finding the net force on objects on an incline and hanging from strings with tension.

We started the lesson exploring Newton's laws and applying them to force diagrams. We did some practice problems with Newton's second law in one dimension and solving for the net force or acceleration on an object. We ended the lesson by discussing different types of forces acting on an object that is on an incline. I prepared him in advance for the next lesson which will be looking at Newton's second law in more than one dimension.

Lesson Comments
Vlad is still struggling with some very basic yet important concepts he should already know!! For example, checking the units in a problem and making sure base units and derived units both are correct, and he is also still confused on the difference between velocity and acceleration or the gravitational force and the acceleration due to gravity. I do not believe he would be ready for a test at this time.

During the first hour, the homework was reviewed and solutions explained. The material on vector analysis, kinematics and projectile motion was then summarized to finish the chapter. During the second hour, we went over forces and the laws of nature. Practice drawing force diagrams and problems finding the net force on an object were demonstrated.

Lesson Comments
Vlad is doing much better. I believe he struggled so much with the previous material and the importance of breaking down everything into vector components before using any of the equations because of his lack of experience with trigonometry and not having a physics teacher before.

More practice with vector analysis with an emphasis on graphical methods was given with many example problems and explanations of solutions. The similarities and differences between algebraically solving with vector components and solving through graphical methods were demonstrated.

A review of vector analysis, projectile motion and solving kinematics problems was given. Many example problems were demonstrated. The underlying physics involved with an object in projectile motion was explored with an emphasis on the different kinematics equations in vector component form. Finding the formula for the maximum height of a projectile was shown using only the three kinematics equations. This method was related to how to find the range of a projectile in motion or the total distance an object will travel which was then assigned as a homework problem.

Select kinematics problems and finding a formula for the total range of a projectile

Finding the various components of a vector and finding the resultant vector from the components was reviewed. Kinematics problems and projectile motion was explained with the emphasis on breaking down the initial velocity vector into its components before using any of the equations of motion. Various example problems were demonstrated.
