Practice questions and strategies for solving problems on the ACT
Lesson Outline
Julia brought a 2017 study guide with her and we shared the only copy. We began working on the problems in the practice tests and covered various types including scatter plots, isolating variables, systems of equations, geometry problems, and simple algebra problems. I offered advice where warranted on how to approach problems including substitution from the multiple choices. There was no assignment.

Julia was very successful at most problems today with the exception of some geometry problems.
It had been awhile since Julia and I have met so we dove right into the reading comprehension. Julia did well. We reviewed some strategies to tackle some of the harder questions. The SAT is tomorrow morning. I suggested that Julia do some more practice tonight, get a good night sleep, eat a good breakfast, and to text me and tell me how it went after! :)

Lesson Outline
Julia and I worked on problems involving setting equations equal to each other and solving for a shared variable, working with scatter-plot graphs, solving systems of equations by elimination, and combining solutions of quadratic equations. This required factoring. There was no assignment.

Julia's name didn't appear in the list of names of students and must be added so that the wrong student is not charged. I used the name Jack Sheehan as a filler so that my report would not be lost. Please place Julia's name on the roster. This is her last lesson before she takes the SAT on Saturday.
