I showed Matthew various techniques of solving exponential and logarithmic equations. Some equations with logarithms or exponents with the same base were solved using the equivalent expressions. Others required that logarithms be interpreted to solve the equations. There was no assignment.
I administered the test on trigonometric ratios and functions to Joshua. It consists of 16 questions including problems about the six trigonometric functions of triangles with two given sides, conversion of radians to degrees and degrees to radians, finding angles using inverse trigonometric functions, solving triangles, finding areas, and taking trigonometric functions of angles given as inverse trigonometric functions. Joshua did not finish the test. There was no assignment.

Joshua used distraction in order to stall his progress so that he wouldn't finish the test. He could have finished the test if he had been focused and prepared.
I introduced the topic of solving logarithmic and exponential equations to Matthew. I showed him examples of how to modify the appearance of the bases on either side to be the same. Then I explained that if the bases were the same in an equation, the exponents must be equal so the equation is rewritten with only the exponents set equal to each other and then it is solved for the variable. I also showed him how to take the logarithm of both sides of an equation to solve for a variable. There was no assignment.

Matthew worked hard in class today. The second class was as a result of my substituting for one of Matthew's teachers who was out during the 11:15 to 12:00 session.
I worked with Matthew on using the properties of logarithms to expand and condense logarithmic expressions. We used the powers of expressions as a multiple of logarithms when we expanded the expression. There was no assignment.
