Abby and I continued to work on the body system. Abby learned about the nervous system and its relation to nutrition. We finished the class with a yoga routine focused on core strength and flexibility.
Today Abby focused on what her transition into college as a freshman will look like. She has worked to put herself in an optimal position as she prepares for a major life change. Abby has put a lot of thought and effort into creating a plan - including finding and getting to know a new roommate, visiting and becoming familiar with the campus, researching and choosing her freshman dormitory, researching and planning for rushing a sorority, and researching and speaking with the college staff regarding her incoming schedule. Abby has realistic expectations surrounding herself and is proactively focusing on balancing her social and academic life and making sure to create time for self-care and healthy habits. Abby is always a pleasure to engage with and is sounding confident as she takes this next step in her life.
In this activity, Abby completed two exercises that reviewed all derivative types. One exercise emphasized derivatives using the rules of exponents and natural logarithms. The others are using the rules of product and quotient rules.
In this activity, Abby completed a review exercise using implicit differentiation. This is a complicated concept for Abby but she is showing definite improvement.
In this activity, Abby Worked on extra problems determining estimated values using local linear and differential approximations. Abby also found local linear approximations easier to work with and understand.
In this activity, Abby analyzed two functions one a polynomial function and the other was a rational function. These functions were studied using the first and second derivatives. First derivatives for increasing and decreasing functions and second derivative for concavity.
