Discuss sound and light as waves. Review how sound requires a medium while light does not. Define vibration and wave. Explain period of a wave. Demonstrate the production of a simple harmonic motion wave, a sine wave. Form a sketch of the wave label and define the crests, trough , wave length, and amplitude. Define frequency of the wave and discuss units. Define wave period and relate it to the frequency.
Kellan used iron filings and a bar magnet to see the magnetic field around a bar magnet. He read about electrical energy and electrical current. He summarized the text and we discussed examples. I showed him a copper wire and discussed electric current. He watched a video about electricity.

Discussion regarding viral infection, and why it is so difficult to treat medicinally, due to the host cell being involved in the reproductive cycle of the virus... Types of treatment involve systemic agents which interfere with DNA synthesis, agents which prevent entrance of the virus into the host cell, and agents which inhibit specific enzyme found on viral surfaces... Transcription and translation were explained and the drugs used to interfere with the transcription or translation of the viral RNA introduced.
