We previewed the talent show timeline and performances and reviewed behavioral expectations. Matthew was reminded that he needed to be quiet and respectful while watching other children perform, just as he would expect others to do when he performs. Matthew followed directions well. He changed out of his clothes and into his gi in his classroom, only requesting help to tie his belt. For the show, he remained seated next to his brother and two of his teachers until it was time for him to perform. When it was his turn, Matthew was respectful and responsive to directions from his martial arts teacher. He executed his moves seriously, smoothly, with great discipline, aptitude, and coordination. It was a practiced performance. Matthew received thunderous applause from the audience and was clearly proud of his martial arts demonstration. He bowed graciously to his instructor when done. All told, Matthew did an excellent job today, and responded positively to the positive attention he deservedly received.

Lesson Comments
I subbed for Ms. Rosie and Isaiah this afternoon for the last hour of the day, (30 minutes for each) which was the Talent Show (3/26/21). As you can read from my notes - and saw for yourself firsthand, Matthew did an excellent job today demonstrating his skills, and he not only met, but exceeded behavioral expectations.
Today, Andrew focused on preparing for the talent show scheduled later in the day. While at the start of the session, he said he was not interested in participating in the talent show, after some conversation he said he would like to show his drawings. Andrew worked on his drawing, we brainstormed what he might say when he presented his art works at the talent show. Reviewed discussing what the art piece was, the inspiration for the work and how long the work took to complete. At the end, he did a dry run of discussing his art pieces.
Andrew is not sure he wants to perform in tomorrow's talent show. As he did not wish to pracice, he planned out a sketch of a nature scene and drew in his sketch book, experimenting with shading. We also watched a video and discussed how special effects and music contribute to building suspense, adding to the mood, and fulfilling the author's vision.
