PJ reread the nonfiction biography article on Bruno Mars. This was Day 2 of closely reading, learning, discussing and identifying relevant important details from the text to infer the main idea of nonfiction articles. He completed questions 2-8 today of his comprehension packet. I noticed PJ has misconceptions of knowing the difference of relevant details vs details that strongly connected to the main idea of the article. Will continue to work on reading skill.
Ben continued reading chapters 26-29 from The Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Gaxaly. Read out loud and discussed crtical thinking questions. We did some beginning work on comparing mediums, will continue day 2 tomorrow with the author Anne Sexton.
Today Ben worked on author's purpose and rhetoric. He read the short story, Tribute to the Dog written by George Graham Vest from 1855. He closely read each section and gave his critical analysis of the author's purpose with teacher scaffolding. He completed the multiple choice questions to the article with teacher support.
PJ is going to be working on identifying relevant important details from the text to infer the main idea of nonfiction articles. Today was Day 1 of the biography article on Bruno Mars. He read through the text closely, discussed, and highlighted the relevant important details. He completed 2/8 comprehension questions. PJ was picked up early from his reading session. He will continue tomorrow of Day 2.
Ben read chapter 25 of The Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy. He continued working on and completed his multiple-choice comprehension questions from the text.
PJ completed his novel reading of The One and Only Ivan. He selected two main characters from the novel and competed a character analysis write-up. He used text evidence from the book to prove his inferences of the character traits. He will have a novel assessment on Monday.
Ben read and discussed chapters 22-24 from the Hitcher-Hikers Guide from the Galaxy. He did not get to complete our session.
Ben had to leave early from class, picked up by grandmother early.
PJ continued reading and discussing The One and Only Ivan. He brain- stormed and mapped out character traits words to describe the two main characters from the story. Tomorrow he will use his map to write the character traits using text evidence from the story to support his inferences.
Ben read chapter 21 of his novel, "The Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy." Started comprehension questions but was picked up early from class. Will continue next session.
