I began the session today with Alex by having him read, analyze, and discuss the AP Language and Composition 2014 Question 3 essay prompt. He then wrote a thesis and outline for the prompt in ten minutes. We then read College Board graded essays on the prompt. Alex then completed part 3 of Sapiens: A Brief History of Mankind.
I reviewed the 2021 and the 2017 AP Language and Compositions exams with Alex. We read the prompts and scored essays. We analyzed the essays and scored them and compared our scores with the ones assigned by College Board. Alex then read, discussed, and analyzed the next three chapters of Sapien: A Brief History of Mankind.
I had Alex review, analyze, and discuss graded essays from the 2015 and 2018 AP Language and Composition exams. He understood why the essay received the grades. We then read, discussed, and analyzed the next three chapters of Sapiens: A Brief History of Mankind.
Alex reviewed and discussed graded essays from the 2018 AP Language and Composition exam. We reviewed the rubric, and Alex scored the essay supporting his score with details from the rubric. We then continued reading, discussing, and analyzing Sapiens: A Brief History of Mankind.
I introduced Alex to the rubric for the AP Language and Composition exam. I discussed the rubric and then showed him the prompt for the three essays on the 2018 exam. We read, analyzed, and discussed an essay from question 3. We analyzed the essay paragraph by paragraph. He then read and discussed chapters 6 and 7 of Sapiens: A Brief History of Mankind.
Alex read, analyzed, and discussed chapters 5 and 6 of Sapiens: A Brief History of Mankind. I then discussed the characteristics of a high-level concluding paragraph of a rhetorical analysis essay. He then completed the rhetorical essay he has been working on this past week.
