We continue to practice daily routines, but add vocabulary for when we do those routines. Words like: in the morning, in the afternoon, at night, and at noon.
After stretching Mercer began class with an 8-minute run and a 2-minute cool down walk around the perimeter of the playground. Next, he participated in a fun, competitive, and interactive game of ladder toss with his classmate while focusing on throwing technique, strength, and accuracy.
We investigated Newton’s three laws of motion and added examples of each to our science notebook. Then we calculated the forces acting on several objects.
Reading Comprehension Spelling Grammar Literature Wordly Wise
Lesson Outline
We reviewed his Wordly Wise words and their meanings. He has a test tomorrow over his Wordly Wise words and spelling words. He read a very interesting folk tale from Mali, West Africa, " The Magic Gourd." We discussed what a folktale is, the use of homophones in the text, and the idea that folktales teach us lessons. The lesson learned in today's tale was the importance of generosity. He practiced his cursive writing with the letter e in even, head, and wave.
Black History Month presentations. Watch everyone's Black History Month projects and present Mercer's from one of his other classes. If there is time, work on Mercer's Color Theory project.
