Bella completed the Soc. Sci. section of Pearson Stanford during the first 11 min. of class. We discussed the European Theater (fighting against the Nazis in Europe). We analyzed how the Holocaust unfolded in Europe, as well. On the night of 11/9/1938, Kristallnacht, is widely recognized as the start of the Holocaust. Afterward, Jewish people were denied the opportunity to work and own property, were imprisoned, confined to ghettos, and sent to death camps. Hitler called this strategy The "Final Solution," intending to murder Europe's Jewish population. Hitler also perpetrated genocide on other minority groups, such as the Roma, people with disabilities, Communists, and other political rivals. People were imprisoned, used for medical experiments, and systematically murdered. In 1943, The Battle of Stalingrad was a turning point for the Allied forces. By early 1945, the Nazi forces were on the brink of collapse, and at the end of April, Hitler committed suicide. Four months later, the Allied Forces declared victory, and all prisoners were liberated. We viewed the segment from "Band of Brothers" in which the real U.S. "Easy Company" liberates one of the camps.
