I screenshared several vocal tasks for Bella to perform involving sight-singing written music. She is much improved. We also did some Drama of 2-person playlets to encourage vocal expression and character interpretation.
9-2 Solving Quadratic Equations by Factoring – We learned that in the standard form of a quadratic equation the factors of the equation determine the solutions. Then we learned the Zero-Product Property and factoring to find the solutions of a quadratic equation. Next we learned to apply factoring to solve real-world problems. Then we used the zeros of a quadratic equation to sketch a graph. Next we learned to write the factored form of a quadratic function from the graph.
Assignment: Complete the assigned problems for homework.
The goal of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s was to end segregation and discrimination against Blacks. It fought for equal rights and freedoms for Black Americans. The significant events that occurred during this period include the Brown v. Board of Education ruling, the emergence of the Little Rock Nine, the Montgomery bus boycott, the emergence of Freedom Riders groups, and the March on Washington. These events helped address the many issues that Black people were facing. The movement helped propel the government into creating laws that fostered equality among all and end of discriminatory practices against the Black People such as segregation. But more than 10 of its leaders were assassinated in the 1950s. The Civil Rights Movement of the 1960s was a pivotal period in the fight against segregation and Jim Crow laws in America. Civil rights leaders and organizations led important protest and political actions that would eventually lead to major changes and protections against discrimination in America. Laws passed during the period made major steps to protections against discrimination in housing, employment, and hiring, and in expressing the right to vote. This progress was made on the backs of activists and marchers who were viciously attacked in non-violent protest and marches, particularly in the South. In response to white nationalist attacks, many laws were enacted that would go on to end the period of separate but equal and work instead toward a more equitable America. We viewed a brief video about the leaders and events of this era.
