Today's session went very well. We finished chapter 6 and we made a good start into section 7.1.
Review generalizations regarding electronegativity and polarity. Discuss the parameters as set by Pauling. Introduce the universal symbol and define what the measurement indicates. View from a chart of electonegativities the general pattern seen in metals, Melttaloids, and non metals. Use examples of compounds and their elecctonegativity differences to determine polar and ionic compounds.
We started out talking about his current university options and preferences and about in the Northern US that have a larger German population.
We finished the lesson on emotions. Joshua wrote sentences about when he feels certain emotions, which allowed him to practice formulating dependent clauses that change the word order.
He showed confidence in his spoken and written expression.
We will work through the assigned problems from the text. We will emphasize the details of the methods used to review the topics of volumes and length.

Lesson Comments
We completed the review of the assignment and began the review of chapter 6 in the text.
We explored in detail four specific examples from the novel that illustrate how Huck's moral choices evolve to reflect character. Additionally, we noted how a foil such as the character Tom Sawyer, illuminates Huck's character. We discussed how Huck's evolved morality is associated literally and symbolically with life on the raft and river, whereas Tom's conventional character is associated with the land. In this way the setting complements the use of character foils.
I first provided instruction on how plot structure and sequence inform or create character. I discussed how plot creates conflict which presents choice. Critically, how the character elects to act illustrates character. We then applied this analysis to the novel Huck Finn identifying how Huck's actions and choices reflect not only Huck's character but create an American humanism of freedom and equality.
As our introductory lesson on The Scarlet Letter, I provided background information on the literary theory of Romanticism and the role of interpretative imagination . Further, I addressed biographical information about Hawthorne that informs the novel's introduction ,"The Custom House," We began to read this lengthy and esoteric introduction together so I could assist Joshua with the ornate style and difficulty vocabulary .
More practice problems will be done involving finding the length of a curve. We will include an example involving x as a function of y. as well as examples of y as a function of x.
