Discuss how atomic size influences many aspects of chemical properties, including resistance to corrosion and electrical conductivity. Discuss how to determine atomic size based on atomic radius numbers, Show how to determine the atomic radius of a compound from the individual atomic radii. Use examples. Using a table of atomic radii, explain how and why the radius of atoms will increase down a group and decrease across a period. Explain why.
Discuss how atomic size influences aspects of chemical properties, including resistance to corrosion and electrical conduction. Define atomic size and use examples. Determine the radius between atoms in a compound based on their atomic size radius. Using a diagram depicting atomic sizes of atoms, define how and why the radius increases down a group and across a period of atoms in the periodic table. Discuss why the size initially decreases in the transition elements and then increases
summary of analysis questions, observations and conclusions for the two labs completed on 01/09/2025. Discussion regarding conclusions and percent error.
We will find volumes using calculus. There are three types of problems: the disk method, the shell method, and the washer method. All involve integrals and require multiple steps.

We did an example of each type of problem. This enabled us to compare and contrast the 3 methods With these methods we can derive the volume formulas for a variety of geometric solids including cones, cylinders, and spheres.

Joshua watched an Easy German video on the topic of emotions, and we addressed the vocabulary and briefly discussed the individual emotions as they related to our lives. We will work on related exercises next week.
Unit 8- Poetry -Extended metaphor, symbolism, paradox
Lesson Outline
We reviewed, discussed ,and edited Joshua's essay on "Do Not go Gently into the Night." Critically, I noted the absence of a discussion of symbolism and the need to address the ambiguity or complexity underlying the poem's symbolic description of Death as not just "night' but "good night.". I provided revised sentence structures to enable Joshua to introduce this idea into the first paragraph . We then discussed the poem's imperative tone through the use of "command" verbs . I further addressed Joshua's discussion of rhyme scheme which in this case ,a structured villanelle, is quite predictable . Joshua worked on revisions during class and will finish rewriting the essay for homework .
Show electron configuration of various atoms using the spdf configuration and the noble gas configuration. Define core electrons and valence electron definitions. Use examples of various atoms along with their group number and period number when designating their election configuration. Discuss the hybridization of carbon to contain 4 bonds. Discuss the formation of anions and cations and which orbital electrons are lost and gained during their formation. Introduce diamagnetic and paramagnetic atoms and explain why they occur
Determination of speed of sound lab using resonance tube.
Second lab involved viewing types of waves along with their properties through the use of a slinky.
