During today's first math tutoring session with Saskiia, she was very well focused and worked productively with me on the topics of common geometric figures and addition with zero. She is a very pleasant young student who I look forward to helping further with her Math skills and comprehension.
Determining the Y-intercept of linear equations/functions. Identifying the Y-intercept from the Y=mx+b form of a linear equation. Rearranging linear equations to determine slope and Y-intercept. Use of IXL online Math Program to identify a Y-intercept in linear graphs/equations.
Determining Rate of Change from data in word problems. Calculating slope from data points plotted on an XY coordinate graph. Finding the Y-intercept of a linear function by plotting coordinate points and extending a line through the Y-axis. Writing Y- mx +b equations from given data.

Colson was very engaged in today’s lesson on determining slope of a straight line. He needs to be guided with detailed calculations as he tends to work at a pace which is too fast and causing frequent errors with signs etc.
Combine like Terms to Solve Equations with Variables on Both Sides – We went over combining like terms and solving 2-step algebraic equations with terms on both sides of the equation. First we used inverse operations to move all variable terms to one side of the equation and constant terms to the other. Then we isolated the variable.

As a substitute for Colson's Math Enrichment class today, I worked with him on Integer Subtraction methods and solving 2-Step Equations. His teacher left 2 related worksheets for Colson to complete and he was very diligent and focused with his work on these problems.
