Liberators During WII
Lesson Outline
From 1944-1945, Allied troops advanced into Nazi territory and began discovering and liberating concentration camps. Liberators came from different countries, including the United States, the Soviet Union, Britain and Canada, and provided assistance and relief to Jewish prisoners. The Allied soldiers who first entered the Nazi death and labor camps scattered across Europe are called Liberators. We viewed one scene of what they may have encountered in Stephen Spielberg's "Band of Brothers."

Lesson Outline
8-4 Modeling with Quadratic Functions – We used quadratic functions to find the area of a rectangular pool and deck. Then we learned to use the vertical motion model to write an equation for the height of an object after an initial velocity. We used the formula –b/2a to find the number of seconds for the object to reach its maximum height. Then we substituted the number of seconds into the original equation to find the maximum height.

What Happens After the Allied Landings in Europe
Lesson Outline
What were the Allies goals after invading the European mainland? Today we discussed D-Day on June 6, 1944 was preceded by Allied landings in Sicily in 1943. These troops fought their way up the boot of Italy against Italian and Nazi forces to gain access to southern Germany. The the soldiers who landed in Nazi occupied France on D-Day were tasked with liberating France and moving east towards Germany. Cameron's great grandfather fought in WWII. He asked that we view one more scene from "Band of Brothers" and he was very attentive and interested.
