End of WWI: the Treaty of Versailles & the League of Nations
Lesson Outline
World War I ended largely due to the United States joining on the side of the Allies which convinced the Central Powers that defeat was inevitable. The Paris Peace Conference was called in which the "Big Four" Allied leaders would construct the Treaty of Versailles and formalize the terms of peace for the defeated Central Powers
The British and the French wanted to punish Germany so they could never wage war again and to get back what they spent to fight the war. Many groups that helped win were not included in the Treaty of Versailles for several reasons and it was primarily Great Britain, France, and the U.S. who decided what the post-WWI world would look like.
The League of Nations was one of the fourteen points which was actually followed, but because the U.S. Congress did not approve the country's admittance, the U.S. did not join it. Many of the other Fourteen Points were ignored completely.

American Involvement in WWI: How the War Changed After America's Entry.
Lesson Outline
Today Cameron was sent a reading entitled, "American Involvement in WWI: How the War Changed After America's Entry." It not only reinforced the reasons for America's entry into WWI (which we have discussed in several classes) it discussed how WWI changes during the one year of America's involvement. As a result of the United States entering World War, the war shifted, and the Allies began winning many battles against the Central Powers. As a result, on November 11, 1918, an armistice was signed, which brought the fighting to a halt. Eventually, the Treaty of Versailles was signed in 1919, which ended World War I and laid the groundwork for World War II.

Cameron has not been completing his history HW. Yesterday, I reminded him that he may access all of his history work under the “Files” icon in Teams. He seemed familiar with this icon and area of the program.

American Involvement in World War I: How the War Changed After America's Entry
Lesson Outline
In April 1914, Arch-duke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was assassinated, which set off a chain reaction resulting in Europe erupting into war. World War I pitted the Allies, Great Britain, France, and Russia, against the Central Powers, Germany, Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire. In 1914, the United States declared itself to be a neutral nation under the Neutrality Act of 1914. While Woodrow Wilson attempted to keep the United States out of the war, the US struggled to remain out of the conflict. Three factors contributed to the United States entering World War I in 1917:

Unrestricted Submarine Warfare
Propaganda Campaigns, and
The Zimmerman Telegram

We had some challenges with getting & remaining connected during our 5th period remote class today. We would get a connection and then lose it. I reminded Cameron to check under the "Files" icon in Teams to stay updated on his history work as he has not yet done that. He said he didn't know anything was there. (But I've been telling him to check it since 1/5/23.)

Topic 7 Polynomials and Factoring
Lesson Outline
7-7 Factoring Special Cases – We learned that when a trinomial has the pattern a2 + 2ab + b2, then it can be factored as (a + b)2 or (a - b)2 respectively. If a binomial has a pattern a2 - b2, then it can be factored as (a + b)(a - b).

7-6 Factoring ax2 + bx + c – We learned how to factor a trinomial algebraic expression in the form ax2 + bx + c when “a” is not equal to one by either grouping or substitution. Some required factoring out a GCF before finding the factor pairs.
