Liam then completed a warm-up activity - focusing on math skills. Liam completed Lesson 1.6 Use Appropriate Tools - multiplying and dividing to solve problems. Lastly, we began a vocabulary activity. We will complete this activity during our next session.
Liam explored the meanings of prefix and suffix, and completed an activity on both. He delved into the meanings of his 8 new vocabulary words. He looked them up in the glossary demonstrating his glossary skills, and then wrote the definitions into his notebook. He read the entire story, "Kids to the Rescue," discussing characters, plot, story details, sequence of events, and the author's point of view.

Liam then completed a warm-up activity - completing ten problems focusing on math skills. Lastly, Liam completed Lesson 1.5 Division - How Many Equal Groups?, using repeated subtraction to understand and solve division problems. Liam also referred to his multiplication chart to solve.
We continued our lesson on mammals by studying the life cycle of bats. He completed a reading comprehension activity about bats. We discovered many interesting facts about bats. We discussed how we are like bats. We explored new vocabulary words about bats, like echolocation and insectivore.
Liam reviewed his vocabulary words and their definitions for his new story. He read it aloud, and we discussed story details, sequence of events, the plot, characters, the author's intent, and made predictions. He answered written comprehension question over this story. He completed an activity using his knowledge of nouns, pronouns and verbs.
