Nicky was surprised with his results on his IXL Diagnostic as they were a bit lower than he expected. I explained to him that he could catch up if he worked hard until the end of this year. He needs help with determining point of view, finding words using context clues, using personification in writing, grammar and mechanics, and overall reading/language arts skills. He has a good attitude and seems ready to learn. We will read challenging classics that he will encounter in the future and work on his writing. Writing is his strong point at 740, which means he is on grade level. He sometimes has difficulty getting started but I will help him with diving in and doing the introduction after he is clearer on what he is introducing. He is affable and compliant.
I had Nicky complete a get to know you form. We reviewed his answers and went over what graphic design is. Nicky was instructed to complete an outline to begin construction of his Adobe Xd Project.
1st Class in TV Sports Broadcasting goes quite well for this socially advanced young man/kid. We discussed introductory concepts of sportscasting after discussing the number one rule of Journalism: ASSUME NOTHING!
Nicky is engaging and advanced socially for merely being a 7th grader. Impressive. I anticipate a quick study. He already proclaimed this to be his favorite class until I took him through all his classes and demonstrated the need for every other one of his classes to be a great sportscaster.:)
