Libby was tasked with drawing a map. I suggested she visualize either her house, the school, or her room and was afforded supports to cue her recall and assist her in recreating the map.
This morning, Libby worked on a Valentine's flower craft. She used markers to color coffee filters, making sure to use colors that mixed nicely together. Once the coffee filters were fully colored, Libby sprayed them with water to make the colors blend, and they were put aside to dry. Once dry, the filters were folded, fluffed open, and attached to a green pipe cleaner. While waiting for the filters to dry, Libby used a heart number line as a visual tool to move forward or backward from a given amount to help her understand addition and subtraction.
Today we worked on representing and explaining subtraction with equations. Libby used the number line and connecting cubes to model problems and wrote equations to find differences. Then, to reinforce the lesson, we played "restaurant" together. We took turns ordering heart cookies or popcorn from the menu. The addition mat was used to find the total number of food items ordered and the subtraction mat to find the amount of food left after eating some.
Libby read and discussed the book, "Gingerbread Baby," by Jan Brett. She learned about solids and liquids. She made a Gingerbread Baby grill cheese sandwich demonstrating what happens to solid butter and cheese when it is heated.

I introduced my magic prop bag and played a game. I would introduce a new item, such as a tube or jug or scarf, and we took turns naming a character and using that prop. Next, Libby used the props to create her own stories for the two of us. She had so much fun!

Libby had a lot of fun designing clothes, saying that one day she may want to be a fashion designer, as well as building fairy houses and making several pieces of art using an assortment of textures, colors, and patterns.
We made a card for our friends celebrating Valentine birthdays. Libby very resourceful, adding Valentines hearts of pink foam in the card. We organized our thoughts and wrote a sweet sentiment inside. Libby was prompted to think of adjectives to describe the heart and came up with a few, such as pink ad soft. Libby wrote a sentiment inside the card and referred to her alphabet chart to help her with some letters. We reviewed the letters and worked on letter recognition skills. She went to give Ms. Judie her card but will give it to her later as she was in a meeting.
