Today, Libby and Teddy stayed inside because of the rainy weather.
We played some indoor games.
We also did some Christmas cards for different teachers.
Libby used writing paper to practice her sight words and "Merry Christmas." She worked on her lowercase y. She made two Christmas cards for teachers. We watched the cartoon version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Introduce the holiday of Hanukkah and that it is a Jewish holiday. Talk about how it is not one day but eight and that it doesn't happen on the same days every year. Read "The Nine Candles of Hanukkah Tell the Tale" and talk about why there are eight days celebrated. Introduce the dreidel and what each of the symbols say, mean historically, and how to play the game. This lesson was also done with other students to be able to learn about Hanukkah and play the game together.
This morning, Libby continued to work on a number sense activity with the digits 1 through 9. She connected puzzle pieces representing each digit in number form and word form, as objects, with tally marks, and in a ten-frame. Libby worked on the digits 6 through 9, connecting and taping the puzzle pieces together for each digit. Then, Libby worked on an addition activity on coloring objects and creating equations.
Libby completed her interactive calendar. She put together her daily sentence puzzle. She read and discussed her vocabulary words. She made a reindeer ornament.
