Then, we reviewed the friends of ten using tens frames and counters to model the different ways. Finally, our lesson focused on adding in any order, and that the order of addends can change, but the sums stay the same. Teddy completed the lesson's practice problems and spiral review questions.

This morning, Libby began with the first fast facts check on adding 2, which will be continued on Monday. Then, we worked on the concept of adding zero, and we learned that adding zero to a number keeps the number's value the same. He read and explained the story details for all 4 of his reading comprehension stories.

Teddy created a landscape painting that looked like a Helen Frankenthaler painting! He read a fantasy story about the characters Tip and Pip and discussed the sequence and key details from the story. He completed several activities demonstrating his knowledge and understanding of what a sentence is, the proper order of the words in a sentence, and the correct punctuation. He used his spelling words and wrote 6 sentences. He worked on an activity using the word family ip.

Teddy practiced finding the missing addend of problems using the number line, counting cubes, and quick pictures. Together, we created stories to match the given problems.

Teddy reviewed and practiced reding and writing his new spelling words. He wrote the 1st 4 spelling words in sentences. He completed several activities using these words in context. He read and discussed story details from this week's 2 stories, "Six Kids," and "Go,Pip." Each day he becomes more fluid as he reads these stories. He explained the definition of a sentence and how the words have to be in a certain order. He worked on several activities demonstrating his understanding of what a sentence is. This morning, Teddy completed the mid-chapter checkpoint to assess his understanding of the lessons so far on using pictures to add, model adding to, model putting together, and problem-solving. He did a great job answering the questions perfectly. Then, Teddy worked on a cut-and-paste enrichment activity on recognizing if addition equations with sums to 20 were true or false.
